Teacher Training

And so it begins — the excitement and anticipation of our annual West Hartford Yoga teacher training. We’re coming up on our 11th year, and though the staff, the process, and the content of the training remains fairly stable, we’re nonetheless working on minor improvements, changes, and additions.

As teacher training applications start to come in, we get a first glimpse of the names belonging to those who will join us for the next six months of intensive training, and be forever-after known as the “Class of 2018”. Just names for now, but soon there will be faces to match with the names, practices to match with the faces, and life stories full of joys and grief, successes, and struggles, to match with the practices. We come to know, to appreciate, to love each trainee individually and the group, collectively.

For teachers and staff, the training is a big part of our year. The weekends can be long and exhausting — the practices and internal work often brings up struggle and emotion within the trainees — and we must set aside our own struggles and reactions in order to hold space and be present for those exploring this vocation. Nevertheless, it is essential and rewarding work, to be allowed to witness and support the life changes, as well as to be part of this community of brave seekers.

There is still time to join us for the 2018 training – so please visit westhartfordyoga.com for further information.
